Floor space ready for your telescope
Astro Observatories Western Australia provides floor space in which to host telescopes as a service to you. Our purpose designed facility maximises horizons and dark skies while ensuring robust and reliable remote operation. We provide the fully managed observatory, you provide or contract us to provide, the telescopes you require for your astronomical requirements.
The observatory is a freezer panel clad structure with concrete floor. This construction provides excellent thermal properties with the inside ambient temperature remaining significantly below outside ambient temperatures during periods of consecutive hot summer days.
Telescopes can be installed on tripods or piers, mains electricity ready and convenient, data connection options available, telescope optical tube assemblies can extend up to above the observatory wall allowing for optimised horizons. We have it all covered.
Proven track record
Our observatory has been operating continuously since completion of initial construction in August 2018. Since day one the facility has been hosting multiple telescopes for multiple customers. In that time the observatory has been open on 93% of nights. The majority of those nights being open for all dark hours of the night.
Prior to construction of this facility, owner and operator Roger Groom has been operating his private observatory for 15 years, 10 of those in an automated fashion. This has given Roger significant experience which now helps ensure the reliability of a facility in which we can host your equipment.
Remote hosting
This facility is for remote hosting only and as such access to the facility is strictly controlled. Provision is made for visiting to install equipment, maintenance and deconstruction. Access at other times is not permitted without prior arrangement, telescopes in this facility are remote operated only. If you require more regular access you may wish to consider your own observatory structure.
